Bridging spatial knowledge with the technologies shaping the future.
A 6-week, 100% free mentorship and practical development program for penultimate and final-year students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals in GIS, Geoinformatics, Geography, and related spatial disciplines. Open to participants globally.
Apply for the free mentorshipThe spatial industry is changing rapidly.
Spatial professionals are increasingly working at the intersection of geospatial data, software, automation, databases, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. Yet many students and early-career professionals have limited exposure to how these technologies are changing the profession, the new roles emerging around them, and the capabilities needed to participate in this evolving industry.
This mentorship program is a 6-week, 100% free mentorship and practical development program for penultimate and final-year students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals in GIS, Geoinformatics, Geography, and related spatial disciplines.
The program is open to participants globally.
It is designed to broaden participants' understanding of the modern spatial technology landscape, introduce the foundations required to work within it, and help them begin building a direction for their future careers.
This is not about mastering every technology in six weeks.
It is about understanding where the industry is going, discovering where you can fit into it, and building the foundations to move forward.

The program runs over 6 weekends, with approximately 2 hours per week, combining industry exposure, mentorship and practical technical development.
Explore how the spatial profession is evolving beyond conventional workflows and how programming, automation, spatial databases, APIs, cloud platforms, AI and modern software systems are creating new possibilities and career pathways.
Programming as a tool for solving spatial problems, automating repetitive processes and building new kinds of spatial solutions. The emphasis is on thinking computationally about spatial problems, not simply learning a programming language.
Work with real spatial datasets and explore databases, APIs, data formats and application-oriented workflows used to manage, process and deliver spatial information.
Professional technical practices including Git and version control, code organization, documentation, collaboration, problem-solving, project workflows and communicating technical solutions.
One real-world spatial technology project from problem → data → design → development → testing → documentation → presentation, so participants see how spatial knowledge becomes a practical technical solution.
Insight into emerging spatial technology roles and pathways: geospatial software development, spatial data engineering, GeoAI, spatial analytics, automation and other technology-driven spatial careers.
Turn work into evidence of capability through GitHub repositories, project documentation, technical presentations, CV and LinkedIn positioning. Demonstrate what you can build and solve, not simply courses completed.
Assessment based on engagement, technical development, problem-solving, project execution and overall growth, to identify participants with strong potential for continued development, advanced learning and future industry opportunities.
Rather than spending six weeks learning disconnected tools, participants work through one practical spatial technology project, applying the concepts introduced throughout the program.
The program is built around four stages:
EXPLORE
Understand the technologies, trends and career pathways shaping the spatial industry.
BUILD
Develop foundational capabilities in programming, spatial data, automation and modern technical practices.
APPLY
Use those foundations to develop a practical solution to a real-world spatial problem.
DISCOVER
Identify potential career directions and the skills to develop next.
The goal is not to make every participant the same kind of professional. Some may discover geospatial software development. Others may be drawn toward spatial data engineering, GeoAI, spatial analytics, automation, remote sensing, spatial systems or other emerging areas. The program provides the exposure and foundation to begin making those decisions with greater clarity.
UNDERSTAND

CONNECT
How does my spatial knowledge connect with technology?
WORK
How do modern technical teams actually operate?
BUILD
Can I create something real?
DISCOVER
Where do I fit in this emerging landscape?
PROVE
Can I demonstrate what I can do?
BELONG
What happens after the program?
Successful participants will receive an Emerging Spatial Professionals Program Certificate.
All successful participants will also join the GeoRAD Spatial Talent Pool, a growing global network of emerging spatial professionals who remain connected to GeoRAD and may be considered for future learning, mentorship, industry and project opportunities.
Outstanding participants may receive additional recognition based on demonstrated performance:
Awarded to participants who demonstrate strong technical capability, engineering thinking, problem-solving, project execution and professional growth. This distinction recognizes demonstrated potential in spatial engineering, rather than serving as a professional qualification.
The highest distinction within the program, awarded to exceptional participants who demonstrate outstanding technical ability, initiative, problem-solving, project execution and commitment to continued development. Fellows may receive scholarships toward advanced GeoRAD Academy programs, additional mentorship and consideration for future project or collaboration opportunities with GeoRAD.
The top-performing participants may receive an opportunity to attend a leading regional or international spatial technology conference, providing direct exposure to the people, technologies and ideas shaping the industry.
The program is open to emerging spatial professionals worldwide, including:
Applicants should have a background or current academic or professional involvement in a spatial discipline or related field. Where applicable, matriculation and/or NYSC Call-Up numbers may be verified as part of selection.
This is not another conventional training program focused on teaching tools in isolation.
It is an opportunity to step outside the boundaries of the traditional classroom and understand how spatial technology is evolving and what that means for your future.
You will not be expected to master every emerging technology. Instead, you will understand the forces changing the spatial industry, discover technologies and career paths you may not have encountered before, connect your existing spatial knowledge with modern technical capabilities, develop foundational skills in programming, spatial data, automation and software practice, build a practical project that demonstrates what you can do, learn how modern technical teams work, and begin identifying the direction you want to pursue next.
Through GeoRAD Solutions' work in building spatial technology solutions, participants will also gain exposure to how these technologies are being applied to real-world spatial problems.
The future of the spatial profession is being shaped now. This program is designed to help you understand it, prepare for it, and find your place in it.
